Maths Week Y1-2
KS1: YR1 & YR2 focused on maths week. The children enjoyed doing activities on this subject, which included a maths number hurt in the open, colouring different shapes and using magnets anc other objects. Children also did a cake sale and learned the importance of addition and subtraction. They watched educational videos and learnt the Islamic history around the importance of maths.
Maths Week Y3-4
•Y3 focused on the story, ‘A Fair Bear Share’ and learnt about grouping and regrouping. This helped us to understand the concept of exchange and borrowing,
• We used sweets and PV chart to show grouping and regrouping.
•Y4’s focus story was ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’ and through this story we learnt the concept of fractions.
•We had Metro Bank visit us and teach us about money managementand savings.
We learnt some banking words such as ‘interest’, ‘safe deposit, etc
•We created sweet cones and sold them after school and we made £39 profit.
Maths Week Y5-6
During maths week Year 5&6 children made corns of popcorns for their apprentice challenge. After buying the ingredients, the children worked out how many corns they could make. The children discussed the importance of money and they have made over £50 profit. The children designed maths hats and the Metro Bank came to our school and they did a workshop with the children about budgeting and saving.
